For those of you that might have been living under a virtual rock, the world of online gaming has taken a new turn, directed by the likes other kind of io games: Agar.io and Slither.io. Two games that will probably have seen mention of, somewhere online. Or you may have even played them. And under their direction, the .io games genre has been born.
Typically io games can be played instantly without the need to download anything or prior game knowledge. Most iogames, are very easy to play and can be enjoyed by anyone with a spare 5 minutes to quickly jump online and cause havoc in a virtual world of some description. Of course, each game has its own nuances and hidden tricks and tips that you will need to know, in order to truly master them.
Oceanar.io, certainly falls into the easy to play and hard to master cliche. At first sight, everything seems so simple and straight forward. But if you want to rule the seas with an iron fist this post will help you get started.
How to Get a High Score
Let’s get straight into it. In Oceanar.io score translates into a bigger army which is helpful in several ways, you’ll not only be able to take on stronger opponents but you’ll also have an easier time taking out other players as well as defending yourself. But the reason you choose to come here is because you want to know how to reach the leaders in the game with their massive scores, there are a few ways to do this but I’m only going to give a few simple methods to appeal to the newer players.
1) Passive Farming
This is without a doubt the slowest method of achieving a large score and we highly advise you don’t stick to this for long. Essentially what you’ll be doing is trying to avoid players as much as possible whilst eating the food that spawns around the map and also picking up neutral fish. This can be a much safer technique to use for newer players but for those familiar with the game its pretty bad.
2) Snipping
Before we get into this one let me just confirm there are no guns in Oceanar.io! This method involves playing kind of dirty and relies on other players rather than yourself. For this to work you’re going to want to try and follow a stronger player around and wait until they get into a fight, once they kill someone or are killed you’ll quickly rush in and ‘snipe’ their fish. Now this method can be quite effective to a certain extent and is only really recommended for when you’re starting fresh, its also not as reliable as you’ll be trying to steal from other people’s kills.
3) Killing Other Players
This one speaks for itself, you’ll be killing other players. Now for those who aren’t as experienced with this game, I’m going to give you a few tips on how to be effective in PvP. A lot of people don’t know when they first start playing that in order to defeat someone you only need to eat their queenfish (the one with the light on their head) and not their whole army. What this means is that combat comes down to unit management, one of the most reliable techniques to use is the bait and switch which involves swimming beside or away from another player and then suddenly launching your army towards where they’re going.
